Due to strong demand, Europe’s largest trade fair for solar technology is once again expanding. The move to Munich in 2008 is expected to lead to more than 80% growth in exhibition space.
Intersolar, Europe’s largest specialist trade fair for photovoltaics, solar thermal energy and solar architecture, concluded on Saturday with a new visitor record. Intersolar furthered its status as the leading trade fair of the European solar technology industry and bid farewell to Freiburg after eight years, with a record of around 32,000 visitors. From 2008, Intersolar will take place in the trade fair centre in Munich.

The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) expects new photovoltaic systems to be installed per year with a volume of 5,600 Megawatt peak from 2010 on. Intersolar 2005 is offering trade visitors from all over the world a high-quality conference and framework programme in Freiburg, from 23rd to 25th June. Newly installed photovoltaic installations with a total output of 360 MW put Germany at the top of the league table in 2004 and led to a 140% market growth. The German photovoltaics industry generated sales of €1.7 billion last year – a positive signal for anyone interested in solar investments.
The fact that 2004 was a successful year for the solar industry is clearly reflected by the industry’s leading trade fair Intersolar, taking place between 23rd and 25th June 2005. With still six months to go, more than 14,000 m² of space have already been booked. This matches the total area covered by Intersolar 2004. In total, the organizers are expecting more than 300 exhibitors, over 25% from abroad, to cover 17,000 m².

With 15,000 visitors from more than 60 different countries, Intersolar saw an increase in the number of visitors by 25% compared with the previous year.
This year, 290 companies will be presented at Intersolar on an area of 15,000 m² - an increase in the number of exhibitors by 12% compared with last year's exhibition.
After the Second Amendment of the Renewable Energies Act came into force on 1st January 2004, the German solar industry is expecting a strong market growth for the coming years. The positive trend is also reflected by the Intersolar 2004 industry fair, which takes place in Freiburg from 24th until 26th June. Six months before the fair is due to open its gates, 95 % of the 15,000 m² of exhibition space has already been booked.
